Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2013
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/5/2013
A famous trainer of athletes from several sports, including Canadian distance runners Tom Longboat and Jim Corkery and who "graduated" to Conn Smythe's Maple Leafs in the early-1930s, Tommy Bell was appreciated by all he worked with and for and received this terrific keepsake during his time as the New York Americans' trainer. "To Tommy Bell From The Boys of The Amerks - '37-38" is engraved on the back of the gold watch, with the interior of the back including "Keystone - Victory - 10K Rolled Gold Plate" and "Colonial - Waltham, U.S.A." appearing on the mechanism. Measuring a tad over 1-5/8" in diameter and exhibiting moderate use and wear, the one-of-a-kind quality piece remains in running order. Originally obtained from the family of Tommy Bell, the thought-provoking "entry" from his personal collection awaits its new appreciative home.
