Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2025
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 4/29/2025
Arguably the greatest card set of the 1970s, due to the inclusion of the rookie cards of legendary superstars Ken Dryden, Guy Lafleur and Marcel Dionne, as well as an early card of Bobby Orr and the final card of Jean Beliveau, the 1971-72 O-Pee-Chee set is complete at 264 cards. We offer a near complete set of 263, missing just number #111 (checklist 1) for completion. With an average condition to the set of EX to EX/MT, about 20 to 25 cards are in lower grade, with the majority of the stars consistent with this EX to EX/MT range. Notables in the EX to EX/MT range include #20 P. Esposito (slight corner wear), #193 Sittler (OC), #251 Orr AS, #263 Beliveau (corner ding) and #264 checklist (unmarked, OC 70/30). In the EX/MT to NRMT range we have #50 Hull, #195 Plante, #245 Orr, #261 Hull AS and #262 Howe (EX/MT+ bottom right corner ding). Next, in the VG to VG/EX range we have #100 Orr (light surface wear), #148 Lafleur rookie (tiny paper loss on back), and #246 Perreault trophy (corner wear). Lastly, card #45 Dryden rookie is in the G to G+ range (corner dings and wear), card #60 Perreault is in the EX to EX+ range (tiny scratch on reverse), card #133 Dionne rookie is in the G to VG range (corner dings) and cards #110 T. Esposito (corner wear) and #144 Clarke (mini creases top border and bottom left) are in the F to G range. Two extra cards are also included with numbers #1 and #7.
