Fiberglass goalie masks produced during their heyday in the 1970s before modern helmet and cage contraptions became the norm are highly collected today, with both their appearance and function giving a nostalgic aesthetic now gone from the sport. We offer an example, with this mask designed in the style of the famous Fibrosport models produced by Jacques Plante’s company, but this mask was actually made from what appears to be hard molded plastic. Full-size and sporting a red and blue band design with clasps at each side and over the top, just the glue residue is visible from the former interior pads, with white paint drips covering the interior. There is surface wear and crazing to the graphics which includes small areas of paint loss over the right eye socket, with no cracks or breaks.
