Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2021
Finishing first in the Norris Division at the conclusion of the 1974-75 NHL season, the Montreal Canadiens were defeated in the Stanley Cup semi-finals by Buffalo, with the club saying goodbye to longtime star and team leader Henri Richard who retired after 16 games. This lot includes a stick signed by 18 members of the 1974-75 Canadiens including 9 HOFers, highlighted by an early signature from Ken Dryden. A Torspo Custom Made model exhibiting heavy wear throughout, all 18 signatures have been executed in red ink, including Robinson, Tremblay, Lambert, Lapointe, Bouchard, P. Mahovlich, Cournoyer, Wilson and Jacques Lemaire on the back side shaft, and Dryden, Gainey, F. Mahovlich, Savard, Thomas, Sather, Risebrough and Bunny Laroque on the front side shaft. The signatures present well despite being slightly bunched-up. Accompanying the stick, we have a vintage child’s size Canadiens jersey signed by 11 over the team crest and reverse including Lafleur, Gainey and Rejean Houle. The signatures display admirably despite being bunched up, with some discolouration and staining to the team crest.
