This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/24/2021
A successful product of the U.S. National Development Team, Auston Matthews was selected first overall at the 2016 NHL Entry Draft and earned the Calder Memorial Trophy as the top rookie of 2016-17. Acquired directly from the Toronto Maple Leafs, we have a pair of skates worn by the superstar in 2019-20, his fourth season in Ontario. CCM Jetspeed models with XS blade holders and intact lacing, decals have been added to the underside of each boot with text that states “Matthews Austin” (sic) along with coding, with the superstar’s #34 also handwritten in blue marker. Usually wearing a pair for just a few weeks period, images show Matthews wearing this model of skate for much of the 2019-20 season. These examples show nice game-use with a few cuts visible over the toe sections along with some rubbing to the leather in spots. There are also dark marks visible over each blade holder, along with a few cuts and gouges. From the season that Matthews received his fourth consecutive All-Star selection, an LOA from the Toronto Maple Leafs will accompany.
