Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2021

The NHL’s top defender for two decades, Ray Bourque remains one of the greatest blueliners in history, with an amazing 13 NHL First Team All-Star selections from 1980 to 2001. Hailing from the mid-1990s, at roughly the time of his fifth Jame Norris Trophy win, we have a pair of gloves used by the superstar, circa 1993 to 1995. Sher-Wood Gold models in solid black with white accents, “Bourque #77” is screened to each, with NHL cloth patch shield logos set within each upper thumb. Heavy wear is exhibited on the pair, with marks and considerable rubbing to the material in spots, with additional heavy wear to each palm. We should note that while images of Bourque’s gloves from the era show a small handwritten number on the side of the wrist guard – possibly a glove set number, there is no such marking on our specimens, but they do show wear consistent with NHL use.
