With an entire nation supporting them, Team Canada was offered a wishful “good luck” by Royal Trust during the Summit Series in 1972, with this limited-edition plaque celebrating the truly Canadian gesture. Presented to longtime agent and promoter Alan Eagleson who was instrumental in the Canada-Russia series occurring, and originating from his personal collection, the 11” x 14” wooden plaque includes an inserted white panel with “Team/Equipe Canada” above, “Royal Trust” below, and “22 million Canadians are behind you” in the centralized text, with this reproducing the original newspaper advertisement. A small plaque has been affixed beneath listing the particulars including “the first Western advertisement to appear in a Soviet newspaper”, and “Presented to Alan Eagleson”. The limited-edition number of “46 of only 55” appears over the reverse, with these presumably given to just players and management.
Surviving the past decades in beautiful condition with light wear including a few visible scratches, we should note that the inserted white section is detached but sits perfectly in place.
