Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2021
Presenting the American pre-collegiate game during the Roaring Twenties, we have a ceramic plate featuring a St Paul’s School hockey game scene in 1928, accompanied by an S22 Cornell Murad cigarettes hockey silk. At approx 10 ½” in diameter, the plate's hockey scene complete with spectators is centralized, encompassed by a rich floral pattern. Text over the reverse states “St. Paul’s School 1928 - A Hockey Game”, along with “Wedgewood – Etruria, England”, while “Wedgewood”, “Made in England” and “3L23” are all stamped. In pleasing displayable condition with toning and a few minor surface blemishes, the plate remains completely solid and uncracked. The silk is approx 3 ½” x 5 ½”, and smaller than the S21 release, with a Cornell hockey player featured. The silk was originally cut off-center, and shows just very light wear.
