A large collection celebrating Le Gros Bill, we have nine plaques/awards that originate from the personal collection of Jean Beliveau and range from the 1950s to 1980s, along with an additional eight signed items. Highlights include a 1972 NY Writers Assn. Al Laney Award for service to hockey (12” x 15” – with the affixed player detached but present), a 1965 "Sportifs du Quebec" for being the first winner of the Conn Smythe trophy (10” x 15”), a 1978 Le Richelieu International plaque with detached metal portrait, a 1957 “Hommage du Salon du Sportsman de Montreal” plaque (5 ½” x 15”) and others. The signed items include five frames, with two photo examples (14 ½” x 18” and 18” x 21”), two signed Molson team photos (one from 1958-59 the other, 1966-67, both 13” x 16”) and one business card display (10 ½” x 12 ½”). The remaining signed items include signed magazine covers, with “Sport Revue” (1959 - 8 ½” x 11”) and “Sport” (1956 – 8 ¼” x 11 ½”), along with an oldtimers program (1980 – 8 ½” x 11”).
The additional plaques include an Academy of Professional Sports Player of the Year for 1968 award (10 ½” x 12 ½”), a Hockey Cultural Program plaque from 1985 (14” x 18”) and others. The majority of the plaques show moderate to heavier wear including light damage, with additional wear to the frames. The signatures all present well with no issues.
