Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/18/2019
Featuring two early and defunct NHL clubs, we have a pair of rare programs for contests featuring the Montreal Maroons and Philadelphia Quakers, with a Forum example for a playoffs match during the 1929-30 season between the Maroons and Boston Bruins, along with a Boston Garden program for a contest on Christmas, 1930, between the Beantowners and Quakers. The Forum playoffs program was sold for Game One of the semifinals on March 20th, won by the Bruins in overtime 2-1, with Boston going-on to win the series. Surviving in gorgeous condition with bright colours and just a very light and faint vertical fold line, the fairly thick 48-page publication lists the starting line-up, with eight of the twelve starting players HOFers, including Nels Stewart, Red Dutton, Eddie Shore and Tiny Thompson. Interesting period ads abound, along with a page containing portrait images of the Bruins. The ten cent Boston Garden program feature’s four HOFers – all Bruins – including Dit Clapper and Cooney Weiland, with a full page photo of superstar Eddie Shore. The big, bad Bruins would crush the modest Quakers 8-0, with Thompson recording the shutout and Clapper earning a hat trick. The center line-up page is detached, with the program in otherwise beautiful condition, with a bit of spine wear including a small tear along the bottom.
