Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2021
Beginning officially in 1947 with a team of NHL All-Stars defeating then-current Stanley Cup champions the Toronto Maple Leafs, the NHL All-Star Game first featured jerseys sporting large NHL shield crests with an affixed row of arching stars above, with this style changing in 1960. Offered is a rare collection of four original NHL shield team crests including a pair from the 1951 All-Star Game (there are red and white 1951 crests and red and white undated crests). Approx 6 ½” x 7”, all four crests are constructed of thick red and white chenille over a felt base, with “1951” appearing along the bottom of the two dated crests. While it is not known if these crests were removed from jerseys or were just extra unused examples, all four remain in beautiful condition with a fairly musty scent, with the two 1951 crests slightly bent over each left side.
