Originally obtained from the family of the late Anatoli Tarasov, a man inducted into the HOF in 1974 and known far and wide as the Father of Russian Hockey, comes a massive amount of personal Tarasov belongings including a wool sweater that was his, plus 15 official Soviet documents and diplomas, many of which are signed by various dignitaries, along with 4 official hardcover document binders, and roughly 135 photos, ranging from 2 1/4" x 3" to 11 3/4" x 15 1/2", including dinner affairs, on-ice action, posing with Russian acquaintances, soldiers etc. Just incredible glimpses into pre-glasnost life in Russia. Many of the handwritten names in the documents are lost in translation, but we can say that one in particular, a 4 1/2" x 7 1/4" b&w of Tarasov standing with 2 women and 3 men has been signed by each in the photo, including Tarasov. The majority of photos have a stamped "Ex-Libris Tarasov" on the reverse, while one of the bound document binders honours Tarasov on his 60th birthday and is signed by Shashkov, the President of Sports Committee and Minister of Defence of the Soviet Union. Most photos are in excellent condition aside from 4 large examples which have roughness around the edges. Tarasov’s wool short-sleeved sweater has some stains near the bottom and a material pull on the back.
