Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2014
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/25/2014
A classic circa 1976 Czechoslovakian national team sweater offered here, worn by Czech star Frantisek Kaberle Sr, who not only made his mark in European hockey but also fathered two NHLers, Tomas and Frantisek Jr. This red cotton style with the country's lion crest on the front and name on back was worn for events such as the World Championships and Olympics, and Frantisek's gamer is nicely preserved with a scattering of marks and puckering on the crest, name, and numbers, and features vibrant red, white and blue in the knit tie-neck collar. Frantisek's number "15" is in white-and-blue woven fabric on a beige felt outline and is sewn on the back and on both sleeves. Kaberle was also a member of the Czech Kladno squad that defeated the Toronto Maple Leafs in 1977 at Maple Leaf Gardens.
