Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2014

A goaltending great of the pre-war era, George Hainsworth had been traded to Toronto just before appearing on this rookie card, surely pleasing his new employers by leading the NHL in wins in 1933-34 and '34-35. In superb NM+ 7.5 form, this example is bettered by none others at PSA from 52 total submissions of the Hainsworth RC over the years. It must have been a case of what have you done for me lately that landed Hainsworth in Toronto. He had been a three-time Vezina Trophy winner in Montreal and backstopped the Canadiens to back-to-back Stanley Cups, but dropped to 18-25-5 in '32-33, prompting a deal for Toronto's Lorne Chabot. A history lesson and a desirable card all for the same price here.
