Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2014
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/25/2014
Coveted by hobbyists are these NHL team crests; premiums offered by the St. Lawrence Starch Company through its popular mail-in program. Proofs of purchase from the company's star product, Bee Hive corn syrup, along with its starch products, were sent in, in exchange for photos and other items like these (4 1/4" x 3 1/2") thin cloth "shields" as they were referred to. A like-new N.Y. Americans crest leads condition-wise here, with the Canadiens, Bruins, Hawks and Wings (edge frays to the latter) displaying well but with minor scrapbook paper on their backs. A couple of pinholes/tiny stains affect the Leafs and Rangers shields, but overall, an attractive opportunity.
