Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2013
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/5/2013
From the collection of former Maple Leafs and New York Americans' trainer Tommy Bell comes this swell matte-finish 11" by 14" view of the 1937-38 Amerks, lined up on Madison Square Garden ice. That's Tommy at the far right, with coach and Hall-of-Famer Red Dutton at the far left. Historians will be able to spot HOFers, (appearing left to right), Nels Stewart, team scoring leader Sweeney Schriner, Hap Day, Ching Johnson and Hooley Smith. Also present are Jerwa, Emms, Klein, Gallagher, Chapman, Shill, Lamb, Anderson, Carr, Murray and Wiseman, along with goalies Alfie Moore and Earl Robertson. Light creases and bends are mostly peripheral and do not affect the crystal-clear image of the Americans, who that season went 19-18-11 before eliminating the rival Rangers in the quarter-finals and bowing to eventual champion Chicago in the semis.
