Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2019

A season that witnessed the Art Ross, Hart Memorial and Lester B. Pearson trophies all wrapped up along with 196 points netted in just 80 games, we have a stick used by iconic superstar Wayne Gretzky during the 1982-83 NHL campaign. A preferred Titan TPM 2020 model in solid white with red identifiers, “W. Gretzky” has been boldly stamped over the upper shaft, with a date code along the underside of “Mar 3 1983”. With the black tape over the blade and white cloth over the handle/knob intact, “WG” has been handwritten in pencil along the underside of the blade at the heel, with “March 5th/83” also handwritten over the upper shaft. Some damage has occurred to the tape over the back of the blade with a split along with a few loose strands, with a few dark marks along with traces of blue paint transfer over the lower shaft, just above the blade.
There is a bit of discolouration over one side of the handle wrap along with some minor spotting, with this and the damaged blade tape the only issues, with the stick in otherwise gorgeous condition, exhibiting light use. It should also be noted that on the date written on the stick, the Oilers played the Maple Leafs in Toronto, with Gretzky scoring his 57th and 58th goals of the season. He also assisted on each of Jari Kurri's three goals that evening for a 5-point night, with Edmonton doubling-up on the Leafs, 6-3.
