Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2020
Winning an unfathomable 19 combined Hart Memorial and Art Ross Trophies during his unparalleled Hall of Fame career, this stick was used by the incomparable Wayne Gretzky during the icon’s third NHL season in 1981-82, one that witnessed The Great One secure both trophies along with the Lester B Pearson as the NHLPA’s most outstanding player. A Titan TPM model in familiar white with red accents/identifiers, “W. Gretzky” is stamped over the upper shaft, with Wayne’s original black tape job intact on the blade as well as the white over the handle and knob (“99” is also handwritten and faded over the lower shaft). A date code of “Sept 17 1981” is visible on the underside, with nice game use exhibited on the lumber, with marks and abrasions to the lower shaft, with additional wear to the underside of the blade. There is also a bit of blue paint transfer over the upper shaft. The blade has been signed “Wayne Gretzky”, but this was done sometime later by Rick “The Stick” Elaschuk.
