This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/18/2019
One of the oldest professional sports franchises in The Big Apple, the New York Rangers hockey club is an institution in the city, with numerous legends gracing Manhattan throughout their history including Ching Johnson, Bill Cook, Gump Worsley, Phil Esposito and Wayne Gretzky. We have a vintage Rangers pennant collection of six. All approx 30” in length give or take, five are matching in design and from the 1970s/80s, with a large Rangers logo over the left and text on the right. Three have dark blue bodies, two white, with just the background or screened colours differing slightly. Two have “1970 NHL Services” beneath the Rangers logos (blue bodies), with one having intact tassels, the other, the tassels have been torn off, with pinholes in each and otherwise light wear, with the very tip cut on one. The other three that match in design have no tassels as issued, with each having light wear, with one having a beige body and heavier wear including pinholes, creases and wear over the left border. The final Blueshirts pennant is circa late-1960s, with screened-on generic players and goaltender, and “Rangers” in bright red. Pinholes are present, along with wear to the graphics and a torn tip.
