Awarded the Conn Smythe as the most valuable player in the 2011 Stanley Cup playoffs, Tim Thomas spent the majority of his career in Boston, with a silver medal won representing the US at the 2010 Winter Olympics. Taking place in Norway from May 1st to 16th, the 1999 IIHF World Championships featured 16 teams, with the Czech Republic taking home the title. The US would finish in sixth place, backstopped by both Thomas and Parris Duffus. This gorgeous mask produced by noted maker Warwick has been attributed to Thomas’ use at the 1999 IIHF World Championships. Featuring an intact cage, strapping and interior padding, a patriotic stars and stripes motif has been wonderfully executed, with the symbol of liberty, an American eagle, placed over the upper right. The colour scheme is repeated over the back plate with “TnT” along the base, with a Warwick crest added over the strapping. Warwick and Myers Mask Designs labels have been added to the interior behind the right ear (Myers has also signed over the bottom left side), with “Tim Thomas” handwritten over the inner left ear, with a notation of “World Championships 1999”, signed by Gary Warwick, with the date of “9-9-99” added.
Showing nice game-use, there are a few surface chips over the chin section, with a rust-coloured blemish over the “USA” on the left side. There are also a few minor edge chips, with crazing to the surface around sections where the cage is affixed. A Bauer storage/carry bag is also included, with “310 Kiprusoff regular” handwritten over one side.
