Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2020
A treasure-trove of early Montreal Expos items that honours the club’s genesis, this great group of memorabilia will elicit serious bidding from Montreal baseball fans. First, we have a baseball team-signed by the first-year Expos in 1969, including Staub, Fairly, Renko and others. This is followed by a first-year yearbook (heavier wear, missing the team photo), an opening game ticket (sealed in lucite), 14 Fud’s Photography Expos cards (3” x 3 ½”), a first year pin, a 1969 schedule, a first home game program (complete with heavy wear and water soiling), a last game ticket (Oct 3, 2004 – PSA graded GEM MT 10) and more! A JSA LOA will accompany for the signed baseball.
The signed baseball is a Spalding official NL ball, with 24 signing in matching ballpoint ink, with the original dark ink signatures now faded to a light grey. Additional signers include Mauch, Face, Bailey, Wine and others. The Fud’s Photography cards include Staub, Mota, Jones, Laboy, Bosch, Wegener, Sutherland, Bailey, Morton, McGinn, Bateman, Wicker, McLish and Jim Grant. The cards display beautifully, with lower technical grades for many with the odd dinged corner visible. The first year pin has no issues, with numerous scratches present on the lucite-sealed opening game ticket. Also included, there is a 1970 Expos team photo (3” x 6 ¾”), sealed under lucite (scratches present), a 1970 Expos pamphlet with Jarry Parc map and a Carling O’Keefe booklet.
