Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/6/2018
Originating from a Quebec charity event for the Charles-Bruneau Foundation in 1991, we have a Pittsburgh Penguins Mario Lemieux jersey that was signed and gifted to a lucky young winner, along with a game-used Lemieux stick that was also gifted and inscribed-to the fortunate fan at some point. The stick is a KOHO Revolution model hailing from the Stanley Cup championship-era of the early-1990s, with “Lemieux” stamped-on, with the original black tape intact over both the blade and handle. The jersey is a CCM example with Maska labeling and handwritten “50” sizing, with a partially embroidered Pens team crest and tackle twill sleeve and verso numbers, with Mario adding the exact same inscription that appears on the stick; “A Vincent Bonne chance Mario Lemieux”. Newspaper clippings along with a ticket for the charity event will accompany.
The stick exhibits good use, with wear to the underside of the blade along with a few marks and abrasions to the lower shaft. There is also a small chip just above the heel section along the top side of the shaft. The signature and inscription have been executed in black marker, with some of the inscription worn away, and the signature somewhat light.
