Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2019
A thirteen-time MLB All-Star, Mariano Rivera spent 17 seasons as the Yankees’ closer, with a career highlight being named the 1999 World Series MVP. Rivera was also the last Yankees' player to wear the number 42 before being retired in Jackie Robinson’s honour. We have a warm-up used baseball twice signed by Rivera with a “Save #616 4/26/13” notation, along with a signed photo showing his backside and his number 42, with the notation “Last to Wear #42”. The baseball is an official Rawlings MLB ball with somewhat worn stampings and heavy surface wear, with Rivera signing twice over the sweet spot in blue ballpoint, adding the aforementioned notation in between the signatures. A “1/1” has also been added. The 8” x 10” glossy photo pictures Rivera leaving the field, with his signature and notation scripted in silver paint pen, with no issues for the signature and just light corner wear and a surface bend to the photo. Holograms have been affixed to each from Steiner, with matching COAs to accompany.
