Scoring 88 points which included a career-high 47 goals, Jean Beliveau would also post his highest PIM totals during the 1955-56 NHL campaign, with his Montreal Canadiens winning their first of five consecutive Stanley Cup championships. This Hart Memorial award was presented to the superstar in 1955-56, his first of two MVP honours. At approx 11” in length, the lidded oval bowl with chased handle sports stampings along the underside including “43 Wm A. ROGERS” and “S.P. COPPER 940”, with engraved text stating “Souvenir of the Dr. David A. Hart Trophy – Presented to the National Hockey League 1923 – For the Player Adjudged to be Most Valuable to his Team – Won by Jean Beliveau – Club de Hockey Canadien Inc. – Season 1955-56”. Originally acquired directly from Jean Beliveau, his signed LOA will accompany.
Coated with an even layer of tarnish throughout, the award remains in beautiful condition, with a few minor surface scratches to the interior bowl. We should also note that the handle is able to swivel slightly on the lid.
