Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2020
The backbone of the Boston Bruins organization for almost 15 seasons throughout the 1920s/30s, Eddie Shore led the Beantowners to their first Stanley Cup championship in 1929, with his status recognized when the offered signed program was produced for “A Complimentary Dinner to Eddie Shore”, at Boston’s Copley Plaza Hotel, March 6, 1933. At 6 ½” x 9” and with intact ribbon, an approx 5” x 7” photo of the rugged defender has been affixed to the cover, with the guests from the Bruins listed, with 16 signing the inside back cover in a single vertical row, including Shore, along with fellow deceased HOF members Tiny Thompson, Nels Stewart, Dit Clapper, Marty Barry and Harry Oliver.
The majority of the signatures have been scripted in pencil and are flawless (the Shore is in black ink), with the remaining signers to include Beattie, Lamb, Heximer, Smith, Chapman, Owen, Ripley, Gailbraith, Green (trainer) and Lionel Hitchman. The program itself shows moderate handling wear and toning, with a bit of minor spotting visible on the cover. The original inserted 4” x 7” “song sheet” with a version of Over There modified for Shore, is also included.
