Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2021

Sure to tempt enthusiasts of both unopened material and high grade cards is this thought-provoking box of 1980-81 O-Pee-Chee hockey card wax packs, inspected and certified unopened by the experts at Baseball Card Exchange. Collectors would have to exchange 20 cents back in the day for a 12-card pack, with 48 packs comprising a complete wax box. The key cards over the years have been rookie cards of Hall of Famers Mark Messier, Ray Bourque and Mike Gartner, with Wayne Gretzky featured on his second-year card and five others. What a time it was, with Gretz and Mess exhibiting the talent and pizazz that would later help render the Oilers hockey’s most exciting and prolific team. The excitement of discovering high grade star and rookie cards within this splendid brick may entice serious hobbyists, along with those who prefer admiring older unopened packs – the possibilities are numerous. Wear at the (eight) corners is more apparent on those on the underside, while a crease/color loss is observed near the upper left corner of the box top. Two pieces of scotch tape once sealed the treasure, with BBCE’s shrink wrap now encasing it and the firm’s label and certification number on the bottom. In summary, a fabulous opportunity that merits ample consideration.
