Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2017

Setting a then-career high of 125 assists over 80 games in 1982-83, it’s often forgotten that Wayne Gretzky wasn’t just the greatest goal scorer in history, he was arguably the best set up man as well. We have a signed stick used by the icon in 1982-83, and it comes with the added provenance of being one of the countless Gretzky treasures that originate from the incomparable holdings of collector extraordinaire Shawn Chaulk. A Titan TPM2020 model in familiar white with red accents, “W. Gretzky” is stamped-on in between dual-handwritten “99”s, with a date code along the underside of “Feb 3 1983”. “WG” has also been written on the underside along with an illegible last letter. An LOA from Shawn Chaulk will accompany.
The stick retains its white tape on the handle/knob and black tape across the blade, with “To Michelle nice to meet you! Love Wayne Gretzky” handwritten along the lower shaft. Nice game-use is visible, with wear to the taped section of blade including a slit along the front side, with additional wear and marks to the lower shaft.
