Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/21/2017
Hailing from the first NHL game ever played by phenom Sidney Crosby, we have an official score sheet, along with a report of the match and penalty record (3 documents total). A contest against New Jersey on Oct 5th 2005, Sidney recorded his first ever NHL point in the match with an assist on the lone Penguins goal scored by Recchi in the third period. Each document is a yellow 8 ½” x 11” carbon copy duplicate, with Crosby’s assist listed on the official score sheet. With just expected wear present from their former use, each sheet remains in pleasing condition, with just light fold lines and handling wear. Any and all items pertaining to the infancy of Crosby’s career are highly desirable, with nothing but upside and considerable potential as the future HOFer constantly exhibits why he is the best player in the world.
The eyes of the hockey world had been on Sidney Crosby since he was 12 years old. So to say there was a gargantuan amount of hype surrounding his first career NHL game would be a drastic understatement. On Oct. 5, 2005, the day had finally arrived. Crosby made the Pens' roster as an 18-year-old rookie and his first game would take place in New Jersey against the Devils. It would take until the third period, but Crosby would deliver. With the puck in the corner he whipped a hard pass to Mark Recchi in the slot. Recchi finished the play by beating goaltender Martin Brodeur and Crosby's mark on the league had officially begun.
