Rookie Normand Leveille was just 18 years old when he scored his first NHL goal on October 14, 1981. Occurring less than four months after Boston made him the 14th pick overall in the 1981 NHL Entry Draft, Leveille scored 36 seconds into the Bruin’s fourth game of the season, later adding a second goal to lead the Beantowners to an 8-5 win in Chicago. Offered here is the official NHL game puck from Leveille's first goal, mounted on a wood plaque. "1st NHL" is engraved on a circular gold-colored disc sitting on a slightly larger red-colored disc atop the face of the puck. "Normand Leveille, NHL, 14-10-81, Chicago" is engraved on a similar gold-over-red two-level metal plate along the base. Also included is an original 8" x 10" Boston Globe photo that spotlights Leveille and Tom Fergus' first NHL goals. Leveille is flanked by his fellow Bruins rookie along with team captain Wayne Cashman, who appears beaming alongside the youthful pair. A signed LOA from Normand Leveille will accompany.
The plaque exhibits just very light wear, with a few minor scratches over the affixed metal plates. It should also be noted that the puck can be unscrewed from the plaque, and it feature’s a Viceroy rubberized reverse. A few small creases are on the accompanying 8” x 10” photo, with notations handwritten over the reverse.
