Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/27/2018
Hailing from the mighty Montreal Canadiens Stanley Cup dynasty in the late-1950s – the greatest the sport has ever known – we have a wonderful personal collection of 33 Habs snapshot photos, with 28 signed on the reverse including 10 deceased HOFers with Harvey, Plante, Blake, Richard, Geoffrion, Lach, Johnson, Moore, Beliveau and Bert Olmstead. Fellow HOFer Henri Richard is also present in the collection twice. Originating from the 1956-57 Stanley Cup championship season and ranging in size from roughly 2 ½” x 3” to 3 ½” x 4 ½”, the majority of the signatures have been scripted in pencil, with a few ballpoint examples. Completely unique, this interesting collection will be accompanied by LOAs for the Harvey, Plante, Blake, Geoffrion and Rocket Richard signatures.
Others included in the collection are Pronovost, St Laurent, Talbot, Turner, Marshall, LeClair, Curry, Provost, McNeil, Dubois (trainer), Rousseau and Ken Mosdell. There is also a dual image of both St Laurent and Talbot. Each photo depicts a player in street clothes, with each signing the back of their respective image. Condition varies with most photos in pleasing condition with lower technical grades which includes toning, creasing, edge and surface wear, with the majority of the signatures displaying well, with the Maurice Richard reverse containing a number of dark fingerprints… maybe his! Henri Richard is the only HOFer to script a signature in ballpoint.
