Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/30/2021
Setting Pittsburgh Penguins franchise records for assist and points during just his second NHL season in 1985-86, Mario Lemieux would announce his presence loudly to the hockey world at large. Registering the fourth-longest point streak in NHL history after 28 straight games witnessed the superstar net an astonishing 59 points, Mario would be honoured for his achievement with the Lester B. Pearson Trophy (Ted Lindsay Award). From his sophomore campaign in 1985-86, we have a signed stick used by the superstar. A Titan TPM1020 model with “M Lemieux” boldly stamped to the lower shaft, the original black tape remains in place over the blade and handle, with a date code of “16 Jan 1986” stamped to the lower underside along with a pattern code of "7-285". Sporting wear to the taped section of blade along with a small amount of red paint transfer to the lower shaft, the stick is cracked just above the heel section, but remains completely solid. Mario has added a blue ink signature to the lower shaft that displays well.
