Joining the Western Canadian Junior Hockey League in 1966 (WCJHL) – later to become just the Western Canadian Hockey League (WCHL), the Edmonton Oil Kings were successful as two-time President’s Cup winners, but with the emergence of the WHA’s Oilers, attendance for the Oil Kings plummeted, with the club eventually moving to Portland to become the Winter Hawks, in 1976. We offer an Oil Kings jersey worn by an unknown player in the mid-1970s (1974-76). A period Maska label is affixed to the collar, with the vintage durene jersey measuring-out to roughly a size 50. Styled with a screened twill team crest, “20” in oversized tackle twill is sewn to the sleeves and verso, with no nameplate over the upper reverse (the jersey predates the common use of nameplates). Thorough game-use is exhibited on the garment, with a few marks and wear to the material, with the team crest quite worn and a slight tear to the front collar. The “2” of “20” on the left sleeve is also slightly detached, with red paint transfer to the left elbow and a single team repair to the upper right sleeve. Addendum; According to information received the jersey would have been worn by Paul Mulvey in 1974-75.
