Ranked 3rd all-time for wins in the NCAA, Red Berenson led the Michigan Wolverines for 33 seasons from behind the bench, and is listed in the “16 Greatest Coaches” by Inside College Hockey. Hailing from his personal collection, we have a quartet of plaques presented to the two-time NCAA Championship winner. All flat wooden plaques in the 9” x 12” range or slightly larger (one has a puck mounted), the first is The Hockey News 1980-81 Coach of the Year Award, with an affixed and engraved metal plate with Berenson image (the plate appears repositioned, with glue residue along the top), followed by a Michigan Wolverines plaque with mounted 400th win puck, embossed plate and Berenson image (October 30, 1999 – Michigan 3 - Yale 2, with the official game puck showing light wear). The third plaque is a “1996 Celebrity of the Year Award” presented by the Michigan Recreation & Park Association in 1997, with mounted engraved plate and “Red Berenson” in raised letters, while the final example is an honourary membership in the U of M School of Music and Band Alumni Association, with the gold text engraved into the mounted plate to include “Honorary Membership to Coach Red Berenson”. All showing just light wear unless otherwise noted, a signed LOA from Red Berenson will accompany.
