Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2021

Making his NHL debut in 1992-93 and dressing for three different clubs over the following decade, Sandis Ozolinsh was traded from Carolina to Florida on January 16, 2002, and made his first appearance for the Panthers that evening in a contest against the Chicago Black Hawks. Needing a quick jersey, the Panthers equipment staff used letters from a number of nameplates (including the "OZ" from an old Kozlov nameplate) to make the Ozolinsh nameplate. He may have possibly worn the jersey for a few more games but images show he is wearing the alternate captain's "A" in the January 30th game vs the Coyotes and a picture from the January 23rd 2002 game vs the Devils shows him wearing a different jersey, leaving only possibly the January 19th and 21st games where he could have worn this jersey as well.
A label and size “58” fly tag are affixed to the collar, with NHL and CCM crests over the bottom hem and reverse necklines respectively. Styled with a large multi-coloured Panthers team crest, “44” is sewn to the sleeves and verso in layered tackle twill, with matching alternate crests over each shoulder. Sporting light game-use with a few marks and faint burns over the front and sleeves, there is also some staining over the left breast and upper left reverse.
