With some not-too-drastic issues is this set, with Parkhurst’s 1959-60 issue, for the fourth consecutive season, starring forever rivals Montreal and Toronto. Moderate handling and wear is to report, with just over half exhibiting a crease, with most of them either small or light or peripheral and contributing to examples mostly in the G to VG range. Examples in the better group have VG, VG+ and VG-EX characteristics, with Jacques Plante (attractive VG+ with two subtle light creases in the yellow name area) and Maurice Richard (VG with a light peripheral crease) leading the star cards. Upon very close inspection, some 30 cards, when viewing the backs, have a light discoloration or stain in the upper right corner, as if they were once held by a vintage photo album “triangle” or something of the like. Beliveau and Bower (both crease-free and otherwise VG-EX), as well as Mahovlich and Horton (o/w VG with a crease) are most notable. A few conditions exceptions include 1-Canadiens on guard (light glue residue and staining on the back) and 33-Geoffrion (four dime-size blotches of glue and notebook paper on the reverse), while eight cards overall have (removable) wax on the front. Despite the flaws, the cardboard classics will be enjoyable to handle and check out.
