Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2021
From 1924 to 1950, Vi-Tone was advertised as a “great food-tonic beverage” with malted chocolate flavour. The company did regular advertising promotions with athletes of that era and after the Toronto Maple Leafs won their first Stanley Cup on home ice at Maple Leaf Gardens in 1931-32, they put out the compelling advertising piece we are proud to offer here. The team's players and executives are all identified by a facsimile autograph and their position or title. Smythe, Irvin, Clancy, Horner, Day, Bailey, Jackson, Primeau, Conacher, they're all there with the rest of the first team to win a Stanley Cup at Maple Leaf Gardens! This remarkable photo display is a very rare piece of hockey memorabilia. It is stamped on the reverse by the Super Art Company of Toronto and the fold-out stand has been taped down. On the front, there are some scuffs and indents along with corner wear and a larger crease on the bottom right. There is some paper loss on the back and some staining in the upper left corner, but this sturdy piece displays wonderfully overall.
