Ready to augment any quality vintage toy collection, this lot offers a great group of 17 toys that range from approx the 1930s to 1950s and feature notable makers including Marx, J. Chein & Co. and Fisher-Price, with a number of beloved comic characters represented including Popeye, Donald Duck and Fred Flintstone. Wooden pull toys, tin wind-ups and a few boxed games are included, with examples originating from the US, Japan, Germany and England, with a number accompanied by their original boxes. Boasting unlimited display possibilities, this great group of vintage toys is ready for a new and appreciative home.
The breakdown for the items in the lot is as follows, first, we have two pull-toys that match in style and design (approx 8” x 10”), including one of Donald Duck produced by Fisher-Price, and one of Popeye (moderate wear to the pair, with no damage or issues), this is followed by nine different assorted wind-ups, including one of Fred Flintstone from 1962 by Marx, George the Drummer Boy by Marx with the original box (very good condition, with one flap detached), “Slugger Champions” boxing game with the original box featuring Joe Louis and Max Schmeling (4” x 4” x 4”, German, missing box top, heavier wear including tears), and six different animal wind-ups including Betsy the Cow from 1938 by Marx and a pelican by J. Chein & Co. Next, we have a “Snappool” game made by Snap Ball of Brooklyn (3” x 11”, with moderate wear and oxidation), a boxing squeeze toy affixed to it’s original cardboard vending card (7 ½” x 10”, wear and discolouration to the cardboard), a Popeye dexterity game (4” x 5”), a covered wagon made in England in it’s original box (8” x 3” x 2 ½”, wear to the box) and an elephant circus game produced in Germany with it’s original box (10” x 10” x 5”, wear to the box and toy). Lastly, we have a pair of boxed games both approx 5” x 11”, with a “Popeye Pipe Toss Game” produced by Rosebud Art (unsure if complete, with light wear including a tear to the lid) along with a “Jumbo Ring Toss Game”, also produced by Rosebud Art in 1940 (a tear to the box lid).
