Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2021

From the final season in the rebel league before the club transitioned to become the most successful NHL team of the 1980s, this Edmonton Oilers jersey was worn by Dave Langevin during the 1978-79 WHA season. Langevin spent a trio of WHA season in Edmonton before six seasons in New York with the Islanders. A Rawlings label with “48” sizing is partially covered by a Steichens tag along the collar, with no other labeling present. Featuring the traditional oil drop team crest administered in layered tackle twill, “26” is sewn to the sleeves and verso in matching material, with “Langevin” in individual blue vinyl letters heat-pressed to the affixed white canvas nameplate. A loop-style fight strap has also been utilized. Four different photos shown for this listing appear to be showing the correct placement of the numbers and nameplate, but the images are not high resolution enough to call definitive photo-matches.
A few puck and stick marks are visible assuring moderate game-use, with a large scuff mark on the right sleeve and material run on the left. There are also a couple diminutive holes on the reverse, with a few small spot stains just above the right breast.
