Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2021
The youngest player in over a century of Montreal Canadiens hockey to score 50 goals in a season, Stephane Richer is one of only two players in Habs history to plateau the 50-goal mark more than once, with the other being Guy Lafleur. The Ripon native would win a pair of Stanley Cup championships during his career, and he remains the last Canadiens player to reach the 50-goal mark in a season. Hailing from 1990-91, Richer’s final season of his first stint in Montreal where he registered 61 points in 75 games, we have a pair of skates worn by the 1984 draft choice. Bauer Supreme Custom models with Tuuk blade holders, all identifiers have been blacked-out, with the laces remaining intact. Richer’s “44” appears handwritten in now-faded blue marker on the underside of each boot, with a sticker affixed to the left skate blade with “Stephane Richer #44 Mtl Cdn 1990-91” handwritten. Great game-use is exhibited on the pair, with wear and rubbing to the leather in spots, with additional cuts to the toe sections and marks to the blade holders.
