Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/20/2020
With Chicago Cubs supporters reliving the nightmare of six years previous, the 1938 World Series witnessed the Cubbies crushed for a second time by the powerful New York Yankees four games straight, with Chicago not making another Fall Classic appearance until 1945. The Series would also mark the last appearance by the Yankees at Wrigley Field until the beginning of the 21st century. We have an unscored program from the Series that hails from Yankee Stadium, accompanied by three ticket stubs, with examples for Game 3 (2) and Game 4. At roughly 8 ¾” x 11 ¼” and complete, both line-ups are intact, with the centerfold detached at the bottom staple. There is wear to the covers along with a tear (back cover), with some creasing along the spine. The approx 2 ¾” x 4” ticket stubs show expected handling wear and remain in pleasing condition.
As an added bonus, six Boston Braves grandstand ticket stubs from what appeas to be the late-1930s are also included.
