Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/16/2020
A veteran of over 1,500 NHL contests, Brendan Shanahan dressed for five different clubs during his Hall of Fame career, most notably Detroit, with eight All-Star Game appearances made along with winning a trio of Stanley Cup championships. From late in his career while representing New York, this photo-matched Rangers alternate captain’s jersey was worn by the superstar in the 2007-08 Stanley Cup playoffs. A CCM label with “58” sizing graces the collar, with embroidered NHL and Reebok crests on the front and reverse necklines respectively. Styled with “Rangers” placed diagonally across the chest in blue-over-red drop-shadow tackle twill, “14” appears over the sleeves and verso in matching material, with “Shanahan” across the affixed nameplate. A patch from MeiGray numbered “E03172” resides on the “turned-in” customized hem, with a matching LOA to accompany, and according to their population report, the jersey is a "White Set 3 / Playoffs w/A" example.
Sporting just light game wear, there are a few random dark marks visible, including over the lower left sleeve. Getty Image #79987496, from Feb 23, 2008, has been matched to the long loose white thread in the top of the "1" of "14" on the right sleeve, and to the loose threads on the "4" on the same sleeve.
