Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2020
One of hockey’s greatest traditional rivalries and separated by a mere 300 miles, Boston and Montreal have contributed heated NHL contests for decades, and we offer a collection of vintage 1940s/50s player photos from each club. Hailing from the unlikely source of the files of Maple Leaf Gardens, we have 11 Montreal photos (all 8” x 10”), including Glen Harmon (2 different), Roger Leger, Norm Dussault, Murph Chamberlain, Rip Riopelle, Jacques Locas, and Billy Reay, along with 2 matching photos featuring both Kenny Reardon and Butch Bouchard. For the Bruins, we have 9 photos (ranging from 5” x 7” to 8” x 10”), including Leo Labine, Bill Quackenbush (2 different), Frank Jerwa, Chuck Scherza, Bill Shill, Jack McGill, Lloyd Gronsdal and Bep Guidolin. The Habs photos have the player’s name written over the reverse, with stamps and affixed paper captions to a number of the Bruins photos, with the majority of the photos in the collection showing heavier wear. As an added bonus, approx 13 Boston Bruins press releases from the late-1950s are also included, with each typed letter appearing on Bruins letterhead.
