Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2020

A rather alluring example of Phil Esposito's important rookie card is up for consideration here and was pulled from a Topps pack during the big center's third (modest) season with the Black Hawks. Following a blockbuster trade to the Bruins in 1967, Espo went berserk, pulverizing Bobby Hull's single-season goal total with 76 in 1970-71, two seasons after becoming the NHL's first 100-point man. Phil led the league in goals six straight years and upon retirement, his 717 goals and 1560 points were second all-time. Card #116 in Topps' '65-66 puck issue, this specimen displays just light touches at the corners and has merited a mark of 7.5 NM+ from KSA, describing Phil on the back as being a big, good-natured guy. You'll likely be grinning like Phil when this encapsulated collectible is delivered. A couple of light insignificant scratches on the back of the holder are to note.
