A spectacular early-1970s Montreal Expos No. 6 presentational flannel jersey is featured in this collection of items from the personal collection of Senator Normand Grimard (QC, Canada). This circa 1970-72 powder blue flannel beauty with Wilson size 46 tagging was presented to Grimard. It is like the jersey the Expos would have worn except for the senator’s surname letters added on the back and no embroidered set number. A Louisville Slugger bat with Grimard’s name on the barrel is included. There are also two framed photos, a baseball, and two 1971 Expos programs, each with dedicated signatures by Ron Fairly.
The jersey has the No. 6 that was worn by Fairly during that era. The first baseman-outfielder won three World Series titles with the Dodgers before he was traded to the Expos during their inaugural season in 1969.
Grimard’s name and the Expos logo are stamped in gold on the barrel of his Louisville Slugger black presentation bat.
Fairly signed “To My Good Friend Normand Grimard, The Best of Everything, Ron Fairly” on a photo of himself in the Expos’ dugout at Jarry Park.
Fairly signed “To My Friend Normand, Home Run No. 200 Ron Fairly” on a framed photo of himself circling the bases in his Blue Jays uniform in Toronto.”
Fairly signed and dated the Spalding Official NL Feeney ball twice. His dedicated and dated “7-4-72” signature to the right of the stamp has faded in many portions. Fairly also signed “Ron” and dated 6-1-88 on the opposite side of the stamp with the dedication, “Things I like – A good baseball game, good wine, and dinner with mon ami Normand Grimard.” The ball exhibits splotchy discoloration.
Fairly and former Dodgers teammate Wes Parker both signed the cover of each of two copies of the same edition of a 1971 Expos game program.
