Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2020

Becoming only the fifth American in NHL history to score more than 100 career goals, Steve Jensen would split his seven-season NHL career between Los Angeles and Minnesota, with additional time spent with the US National Team at the 1976 Olympic Games in Austria, where he tied for the lead in tournament scoring. Hailing from the Michael Wexler collection, this Kings jersey was worn by the Minneapolis native in 1979-80, his second season with the club. A W.A. Goodman & Sons label is affixed to the collar with “48” sizing, with no other tagging present. Styled with a gorgeous crown team crest with embroidered detailing, “22” appears over the sleeves and verso in purple-over-white tackle twill, with “Jensen” across the upper reverse in matching material. It should be noted that the DOT clasp-style fight strap was moved from its original placement, with the previous outline visible over the second reverse “2”.
Seeing considerable use, the vintage mesh sweater exhibits a few random marks and burns including over the left sleeve, with pilling beneath the fight strap. There are also numerous team repairs including an especially large example over the lower front, with additional repairs on the left (4 including a large example) and right (7) sleeves.
