Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/18/2019
Born in hockey hotbed Winnipeg just after the turn of the century, Nick Wasnie’s career was spent representing a number of different leagues including the NHL. Single-season campaigns with Ottawa, St Louis and New York were preceded by three seasons spent with the Canadiens where Wasnie was a Stanley Cup champion in 1930 and 1931, playing on a line with Howie Morenz and Aurel Joliat. We have an original vintage photo of Wasnie, with this example dedicated to his wife. At approx 4” x 6”, the photo has been affixed to a 6 ½” x 10” mount, with this then affixed to a larger fold-over presentation mount (7” x 10 ½” folded). Wasnie is pictured in his Ottawa Senators jersey, with him signing over the lower right, “Love to Marie”. The photographer H.F. Kelly has signed beneath in pencil, adding the year, “33”. The bottom corner of the photo is slightly raised and detached, with just general handling wear to the mount including some minor foxing above the photo.
