Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/18/2019
With over 68,000 attending and the second outdoor NHL game played by Pittsburgh, the Penguins would meet the rival Washington Capitals at Heinz Field for the 2011 Winter Classic, played on New Year’s Day. Taking place at the home of the Pittsburgh Steelers, it’s fitting that we have a football helmet team-signed by the Penguins. A Riddell replica model complete with face guard, interior padding and chin strap, it’s been adorned in Pittsburgh colours, with Winter Classic decals affixed to each side, along with both Pens and NHL emblems over the lower reverse. 24 have signed throughout in gold marker, including Crosby, Malkin, Fleury, Letang, Dupuis, Cooke, Orpik, Lovejoy, Godard, Letestu, Talbot and others. The signatures stand out beautifully against the dark background. A hologram from CSI has been affixed over the lower reverse.
The additional signers are Martin, Kennedy, Johnson, Goligoski, Kunitz, Rupp, Michalek, Asham, Adams, Engelland, Comrie, coach Blysma and a few others.
