This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/18/2019
A favourite pastime of youth in years past, scrapbooking can be thanked for the large amount of surviving ephemera in the hobby, with these usually-large tomes ideal for safekeeping. We have a collection of approx. 36 vintage scrapbooks, ranging in both size and date, with the majority hailing from the 1950s and late-1960s. Highlighted by a pair of scrapbooks that feature Maurice Richard, there is also a third book with parts celebrating his 500th goal, followed by a scrapbook filled with 1945-54 Quaker Oats premium photos including Schriner, McCool, Durnan, Lach, Broda and others, with additional QO photos mixed in other books, including Maurice Richard. Next, we have scrapbooks for 1953-54, 1967-68, 1968-69 (3) and 1969-70 (9), with additional examples housing just clipped boxscores and dates for 1958-59, 1961-62, 1963-64 and 1964-65. Other highlights in the collection (these items are loose) include a copy of the colouring book Speed on Ice (10” x 13 ½”), a 1952-53 Parkhurst album, 11 different vintage media photos (low grade), a signed Bobby Hull magazine page, 3 Group II Beehive photos (Lumley, Fontinato and St Laurent – all lower grade) and a 1984 Canada Cup poster (also low grade). The majority of the text is in French, with many of the newspaper clippings heavily toned or brittle, with many also loose/detached. A few of the books also exhibit minor soiling.
