Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2019

Born in music-mecca New Orleans just after the turn of the century, Louis Armstrong began as a cornet and trumpet player in the 1920s, with his unique style heavily influential on the jazz scene. A vocalist who also composed, Satchmo would win a Grammy for Male Vocal Performance on "Hello, Dolly!” in 1964. A member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Armstrong would pass from a heart attack at 69, in 1971. We have a signed and framed photo from the legendary performer. At 8” x 10” and with trusty trumpet in hand, the promotional photo has text along the base, with Louis adding a fairly bold signature over the upper right, along with “Best Wishes to Hank”. Exhibiting toning and multiple creases including a large example over the upper left that breaks the surface, the desirable photo has been matted and framed to full dimensions of approx 14” x 16”, with an LOA from JSA to accompany. We should also note light to moderate wear to the frame itself.
