Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2019
The first coach and general manager of the Buffalo Sabres in 1970, Punch Imlach had previously coached the Toronto Maple Leafs for just under a dozen seasons, with four Stanley Cup championships won, including three consecutive, from 1962 to 1964. We have a collection of vintage Maple Leafs documents totaling 5, with each signed by the Hall of Fame Builder. Included, we have a pair of Standard Assignment Agreements from 1963 for Leon Risdon and Martin Howe, with the Risdon document signed by Imlach in black ballpoint, the Howe in red ink. This is followed by a trio of Try-Out Agreement “A” forms, one from 1962 for Hal Dobson, one from 1963 for Raymond Leclerc and one from 1966 for Marty Desmarais, with each Imlach signature in ballpoint, with just the 1962 form showing the signature somewhat overlapping text. The documents themselves show handling wear commensurate with their former use, with fold lines, staple holes and toning.
